Step 1The 2 is waved through and cuts through the elbow as the 5 cuts to the opposite block and gets position at the elbow. The 2 cuts in a way that sets a kind of "brush screen" to get 5 open at the elbow. As the 2 cuts through the elbow, the 4 drops to the corner to protect from a blindside steal. As a set play call or a counter to overplay on the 2 in the CHIN, the WAVE series has 3 options: (Away, Over, Under)Step 2After the bball has been passed to the high post, 5, the 1 cuts OVER the top of the ball to set a fake screen for 4.Step 3After the bball has been passed to the high post, 5, the 1 cuts AWAY from the ball to set a fake screen for 3.Step 45 passes back to 1 after the fake screen.Step 5If the 1 uses the ball screen instead of driving the lane line, the 5 sets a ball screen and DOES NOT roll to the hoop. The 5 follows the 1 who has dribbled across the top of the lane. If the elbow jumo shot is available, the 1 should take it, but the majority of the time the 1 should not look for the shot/drive off this ball screen. The 3 is open on the wing after the screen in by 4. 1 passes to 3.Step 6POST AND FLARE OPTIONS This wing pass keys a special set that has post and flare options. This action is common in this offense and will be referred to as the POST/FLARE Option. The 3 looks inside and then passes the ball to the 1 in this cas.e The 1 is open after the flare screen is set by the 5 man. The action of the ball screen into a flare screen is very difficult to defend for the defender on the 1 (X1). The 1 receives the ball and tries to drive to the rim for the shot. The lane is created on the weakside after the flare screen. Many times the defender on the 2 (X2) will help to stop the drive by1 and leave 2 open for a 3 point shot.Step 7If no shot is available for 2 in the corner, they dribble up to the guard spot and the other players relocate to run CHIN. ALWAYS get into CHIN on a breakdown dribble up to the guard spot.Step 8ANother option after the oass to 3 on the wing is to enter the ball into the post. The 4 is usually open after setting the screen for the 3 and pivoting hard for the basketball. The first option for the 4 is to score but the 4 should also look for the 1 FINISHING THE CUT to the rim for the drop pass and layup. This is open when the X1 pressures or plays hard over the top on 1.Step 9Another option after the pass to 3 on the wing is to enter the ball into the post. The 4 is usually open after setting the screen for the 3 and pivoting hard for the basketball. The first option for the 4 is to score, but the 4 should also look for the 1 spotting up for the 3 point shot at the top of the key. This is open when the defender on the 1 (X1) sags into the lane to help on the post. The 5 should see this and set a screen down on the X1 to further give 1 an opportunity for the shot.Step 104 can attack middle with the dribble and locate 2 in the corner against help in the post for the 3 point shot.Step 11Step 12On pass to 5 at top of key into 5 OUT
