Step 1X is a variation of the Point series from a different angle with built in counters. The 1 hits the 3 and both guards fill the corners as 5 fills the high post for a pass from 3.Step 2These are the same options as the Wave Series OUA from a different angle. The passer reads Over the high post, Under to the rim, or Away for a screen on the corner player.Step 33 cuts over the ball and sets a fake screen for the 4 who cuts hard backdoor. 1 will screen in on the baseline and 3 will square up for the ball. This play is now Wave Away.Step 4The play now has the same reads and counters as the Wave Away play. The key difference is now the forwards are running the screens instead of the guards.Step 5A quick pass to 5 and backdoor cut can lead to an easy score for the 3. If the 3 is not open on the cut, the 1 will fill the wing and execute the same options as Wave Over with a wing ball screen.Step 6Same options as Wave Over and a Pick and Pop between the 5 and 1 can be very effective.Step 7The 3 tries to downscreen for the 1 and the 1 rejects the screen and cuts backdoor for the layup. The 3 then pops back for the ball on the wing. The 4 will down screen for the 1.Step 8A double backdoor by the 3 here cutting to the rim is effective as a changeup. The same options as Wave Over are now available from this entry.
