How to run 5 Out — a set play you can teach frame by frame and take to your next practice.

5 Out — frame 1 diagram
1 cuts to the left low post; 3 cuts to the left low post; 5 dribbles to the left perimeter; 3 passes to 1
5 Out — frame 2 diagram
5 passes to 1; 3 screens near the left wing; 5 cuts to the left low post
5 Out — frame 3 diagram
1 dribbles to the left perimeter; 5 screens near the left wing; 3 cuts to the left corner; 2 cuts to the right wing; 4 cuts to the right perimeter
5 Out — frame 4 diagram
1 passes to 3; 5 cuts to the left wing; 4 cuts to the right perimeter

Call 5 Out when you want to stretch the defense and attack the paint with dribble penetration or a mismatch cut. All five players space the perimeter while you trigger pin-down screens and back cuts off the movement — if the defense collapses, you have skip passes to shooters on every side.
